Nicole Warne / Gary Pepper Vintage

I'm feeling the travel itch again - and its only been 2 days at home. Everyone is caught up in their own thing at the moment whether it be working, travelling, partying hard and i have been looking at the most wonderful photos of those on their travels.

Here we have Nicole Warne, author of the Gary Pepper vintage blog.
Nicole travels to all the places i'd like to go; Italy, Paris, Ice-land.... While wearing beautiful clothes.
She travels, has a lovely sense of style, and is an ultimately beautiful and inspiring blogger:

Melbourne

Had the most amazing time at Amie's house with Caitlin and Craig. Through thunder storms and melting hot days where the night was warm we found fun things to do and places to go. Jumping in the waves, pancakes with mango, looking out over cliffs, bbq's by the river with a basketball....

Staying at Wills was nice too, and seeing Grace again! There was a lot of ice cream and chocolate involved but i'm back to healthier ways now. We found a tea shop with the most amazing flavours - I got cottle chai, strawberry and champagne, and mango along with Christmas tea for my family. The Christmas tea smelled of Christmas cake - almond, cloves, spice... I can't wait to taste it! The forth thunder storm was at least four hours long, at 2am I was tensed by my window trying to capture a crack of lightning. There was also a great day in Melbourne city that i'll share more on later :)

Cooking fun

It's been so long since I've been able to cook, it's been great to get back to it!
Hopefully shall be seeing more of my friends next week, along with sun bathing and strawberry champagne slushies/popsicles :) yum

Spicy tomato soup recipe (serves 4)
From whole-living
2 cans of diced tomato in juice
1 T of Olive oil/safflower oil
2 carrots
3 cloves of garlic
one lemon's juice
1/4 milk (or what seems right to make it creamier)
1 cups of water or more
turmeric, basil, oregano, rosemary, a pinch of cayenne pepper or chili (all optional but add to it)
Instructions:
Take tomatoes and grill them with olive oil in the oven until lightly browned (intensifies flavour), meanwhile slice carrots thinly (if using a blender) then add carrot, garlic, lemon juice, tomato juice, milk and browned tomatoes and blend until smooth. Then place in a pot over the stove to heat, adding seasoning and stirring so it will not stick. Eat with buttered hot toast!
Nutritional information - About 80 calories per serving, very filling!
It is low in carbohydrates (3%), fats (6%), high in vitamin A (122%) and vitamin C (39%), dietary fiber  potassium and vitamin B6.

One of the most amazing cakes has struck me down, i haven't even tasted it yet - but just the sound of its name makes me feel warm inside: Cashew dream cake
It's like a cheesecake but healthier and can be flavoured in many different ways; raspberries, vanilla bean, cocoa, blueberry, strawberry, apricot, Turkish delight... I just wish i had a food processor as without it, i don't know if i can do it.

Summer is coming

There are so many plans to make!
To eat decadent ice cream with tiny spoons in pretty sundresses in the sun and catch it while it melts, to have a tea party with fairy bread, hot cookies and tea/coffee to dip things in, and to have lots of summer picnics (already had one!).
Then there's to watch The Wall Flower with Emma Watson - i hope it's good, has anyone seen it yet? thoughts? I'll be summer shopping soon; I'm leaving for Melbourne for a week soon with a friend and i hear Australia in summer is mmmmmm so hot. I'm still on a search for flattering tops on me, or just clothes in general as I grew again this year and haven't replaced my clothes on a student budget. I'm thinking of these:
Jorge's champagne Oak shirt
Paint it red's dirty diamond's dress
Paint it red's tainted love dress

I've been feeling rather strongly about staying healthy/healthier though i'm never going to not eat ice cream for the rest of my life as that's crazy! I have a summer glow to my skin already, I have been going to the gym with my mum and walking with my dad, and i have eaten so many strawberries. There are some gorgeous inspirations out there after all for being happily healthy. I find smoothie creations are the most fun, mixing nuts, yogurt, fresh fruit in every way, i found this useful: http://www.superskinnyme.com/smoothie-recipes.html It's creations for every situation :) hungover, pre and post-exercise, metabolism boosting, coffee-kicking, energy boosting creations of every colour.

Beauties of summer.

I have my whole summer ahead of me
It's a wonderful feeling, working so hard and then it all ceasing to exist for a few months, ignoring the uncertainty that is always around the corner, smiling to yourself before you go to bed. There were tiny children running around for Halloween - spiderman was chasing a batman down the street and i laughed and an older man saw me laughing and smiled, then you feel warm inside. There's so much that is bad and wrong out there that i'm fighting to enjoy everything we still have, there's the 5 degree temperature rise models beginning to look more accurate which would cause extreme extinction, for example it would take out the coffee beans that the majority of people enjoy - Greek and Turkish coffee would be safe i hear. I want to do something helpful, in my little way, but with things continuing the way the do and key factors unchanged it does seem too late. What can we do? Not much. So try to have a good life; be kind, environmentally conscious within reason, and enjoy what there is before it disappears. I won't be 18 for much longer after all...

MGdM

'we wish to pursue the truth no matter where it leads' ^
Alarmingly wonderful.

The weekend was sad - i sat in bed on Sunday night at 12.23am after skyping home with my sun-jar glowing a cooling blue, writing in my diary by that light, and listening to birdy. I drew shapes on my skin, hearts and teardrops. I forgot to take my towel to the shower with me, realized, then got in the shower anyway - soaked the fresh clothes i put on to walk back to my room in.

I would love crepes right now

Canada

Once upon a time my family took me travelling, we went all sorts of places and gave me the slight itchy wanderlust in the soles of my feet. We visited family; nana was in Canada where there were mosquitoes in summer, wolves in winter and she looked after her horse Flicka all year round. The insects loved my blood, especially the night that my mosquito net was broken - i hated it, lying in the dark and listening for them - i wondered if there was one inside my ear. Her garden was full of flowers and i remember the sun, particularly the day we went to the safari and she didn't have air conditioning in her car and there were monkeys on the roof snapping pieces of car off so the windows were tightly shut. I was clicking pictures of the deer even though she told me they were pests and lived in New Zealand too, just as the monkey broke off the car in front's antennae.

We went to the local play area which was a swing on the dusty dirt ground, we were more interested in the rocks on the ground, we would hit them on one another and occasionally they would crack and the inside was full of black crystal. One night we went to a medieval knights show in Toronto, it was really nice - the audience was sectioned off into knights to support and were given crowns to wear in their colours. It so happened that the knight were the supporting, the black and white, won the tournament and so was handed flowers to girls in the crowd (i was so close to having a flower i thought) however... he then had chose a little princess: It was me. I walked through the crowd to sit up beside the 'king and queen' and watch the final battle while wearing a little sash, didn't really take it in as i'm not used to being chosen. What i find amusing now was that i began acting along (eight years old of course) and played along with expressions of fear and horror on my face whenever my knight was under attack - the queen then asked me if i was okay as i must have looked as if i were in pain. Oh dear, such an awkward child
Niagara falls is enormous, we were told tales of people surviving going over it in barrels and such - there weren't that many stories.

Unusual idea for a Autumn/Winter gathering of friends, make hot spiced pumpkin soup from a pumpkin and then place it back inside the for fun pumpkin to keep it warm.
